The Jackson Zoo and UnitedHealthcare Kick Off Spring Zoo Season with Zoo Day 2015

Families encouraged to attend event on March 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a day of fun, interactive activities; first 200 UnitedHealthcare members will receive free admission

JACKSON, Miss. (Feb. 17, 2015) – The Jackson Zoo and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Mississippi will kick off spring zoo season with Zoo Day 2015, which will be held March 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first 200 UnitedHealthcare members will receive free general admission to the zoo as well as access to all Zoo Day activities. Members must present a valid membership identification card at the zoo entrance.

Zoo Day is an annual event held at the Jackson Zoo to kick off the spring zoo season. This year’s event will feature guest characters Curious George, Junie B. Jones, Lyle Lyle Crocodile and Ladybug Girl. The guest characters will also be featured at the Gertrude C. Ford Education Center for special story times. Local author Wendy Edlund will be onsite reading her book, Trip to the Zoo, for all children and families in attendance.

Other activities include: Spring Fling Dance Party, Jason Turner in concert, animal encounters, bounce houses, face painting, Robert Day the Magician, Jackson Showboats Basketball, games, crafts and more. UnitedHealthcare representatives will also be on hand to offer tips on healthy living, nutrition and exercise.

General admission to the zoo covers all activities: $9.25 for adults $6.75 for children (12 and under). The first 200 UnitedHealthcare members will receive free admission. The Jackson Zoo is open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
