Jocelyn Chisholm Carter Named President Of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan In Mississippi

RIDGELAND, Miss. (July 22, 2011) — UnitedHealthcare Community & State announced that Jocelyn Chisholm Carter has been named president of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan in Mississippi. Read the PDF. (PDF 44.84 KB)

In her new role, Carter will lead UnitedHealthcare's Mississippi CAN and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) health plans in Mississippi. UnitedHealthcare Community & State serves more than 90,000 Mississippi CAN and CHIP beneficiaries in the state.

Carter joined UnitedHealthcare in 2004. Prior to being appointed president of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan in Mississippi, she served as lead counsel for the Northeast Region and primary counsel for New York and New Jersey health plans. In those positions, Carter provided legal counsel and government program regulatory analysis.

"Jocelyn has extensive experience working on behalf of the economically disadvantaged and underserved, and an immense passion for serving people in the community," said Mike Radu, regional president of UnitedHealthcare Community & State's southeast region. "She will help strengthen our partnerships with communities, members, care providers and the state."

Carter received her bachelor's degree from in 1989 from Georgia Southern University and her Juris Doctorate degree in 1995 from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She will be based in UnitedHealthcare's Ridgeland office.
