National FQHC Advisory Board Member Spotlight: Dr. Ted Wymyslo

Dr. Ted Wymyslo serves as the Senior Medical Advisor of the Ohio Association of Community Health centers, with 56 Federally Qualified Health Center members serving over 850,000 patients at more than 400 sites across the state. Dr. Wymyslo has over 30 years of experience as a clinician, was appointed Director of the Ohio Health Department from 2011-2014 and established the Ohio Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative in 2011 to effect statewide implementation of the Patient-Centered Medical Home delivery model – he has received numerous service and leadership recognition awards throughout his career.

For over three years, Dr. Wymyslo has been a member of the UnitedHealthcare FQHC National Advisory Board (FQHC Board) - when asked what value the FQHC Board provides he highlighted, “The opportunity to discuss best practices and innovative programs that are creatively addressing challenging patient care needs.” Dr. Wymyslo enjoys collaborating with the group to determine what initiatives and programs will be most successful in improving health outcomes for the underserved.

Dr. Wymyslo referenced the national substance use disorder crisis as one of the most important topics the group has discussed to date and expressed gratitude to UnitedHealthcare for, “Continually focusing on increasing availability and follow through on medication-assisted treatment services for its patients.”
