Considerations for states on use of American Rescue Plan Act funding

The American Rescue Plan Act has committed $195.3 billion to states and $65.1 billion to counties to assist states in identifying how best they can fill gaps experienced in public health care brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Catherine Anderson, Senior Vice President of Policy and Strategy, recently noted that the last two years have had a powerful impact on communities, bringing greater focus to health inequities and where gaps in care exist. She anticipated states and counties will follow three important steps in allocating recovery funds from the act:

  1. Identify challenges
  2. Understand what communities need
  3. Strategize how to fill those gaps with the allocated funds

Listen to more from Catherine as she highlights ways that states and counties can best serve communities and their specific needs in this video.
