The theme for this year’s virtual NAMD conference is Together Towards the Future. With the global public health emergency, the Medicaid system and the work of Medicaid Directors and their staff has never been more important. While COVID-19 has disrupted health care at all levels, it significantly impacted Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). FQHCs have long been the cornerstone of care for the Medicaid population. Between a reduction in revenue, a shift in utilization, and changes in how patients seek and receive care, these community health centers have been forced to find new ways to address patient needs. Given the critical role FQHCs play in serving and supporting our members, UnitedHealthcare Community & State set out to find a way to help these community health centers adapt and innovate. To help these centers address the crisis and build capacity for their long-term sustainability, UnitedHealthcare Community & State launched the FQHC Transformation Pathways Program. Supporting the work of FQHCs is how UnitedHealthcare Community & State is working Together Towards the Future.
