At UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina, Medicaid managed care is about more than providing medical services, it’s about understanding the broader challenges that affect member health and delivering coordinated solutions that address them.
In this video, the caregiver of a UnitedHealthcare member shares the emotional support she has received from her grandson’s care team.
“I was just at a breaking point,” said Joyce Watkins. “My grandson’s condition was declining. My health had declined severely. I was in need of two different surgeries and wasn’t able to have those surgeries because my heart doctor felt I may not survive.”
“I tried to step in and let her know the service I could offer her, the home personal care service, to give her some type of relief,” said Fonay Mack, UHC RN nurse case manager.
This story reflects the commitment of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina to proactively identify and resolve barriers to health through comprehensive, person-centered care that drives better outcomes and improves quality of life.
